Big East Marketing

You can't fault the Big East for bad marketing.

In football, they cleverly arranged to have the biggest games late in the year at a perfect time when not much else was going on. The focus of the football watching nation was on Louisville-WVU, and then, in a bonus game that nobody predicted, Louisville-Rutgers.

Today, the Big East was on ESPN.

All Day.

Four straight first round games for basketball junkies to watch.

Not only that, but the ESPN360 package allowed basketball diehards to watch the Big East from the comfort of their computer monitors -- at work.

The publicity boon from all this is incalculable.

ESPN will always belong to the ACC, and vice versa; but perhaps the Big East, through shrewd marketing, has moved itself into a coveted second favorite partner status.
